An Object's Settings Notebook Cannot Be Opened

Object popup menu items, including the Open submenu and the Settings notebook item, can be suppressed both globally and individually, on an object-by-object basis.

Menu items can be globally suppressed on the Objects page of the DeskMan/2 Workplace Shell Extensions settings notebook.

Menu items can also be suppressed for individual objects, or individually enabled if globally suppressed. To override global settings, select the Allow individual object overrides checkbox on the Objects page of the DeskMan/2 Workplace Shell Extensions settings notebook.

NOTE: If you suppress either the Open sub-menu or all the menu items for an individual object, the only way to restore them is to change the object's information using the DeskMan/2 Object Explorer. To do this:

  1. Drop the object on the Explorer (it is in the DevTech folder).
  2. Examine the settings container, and look for the DMExtRemoveOpen=1 statement.
  3. Change this statement to DMExtRemoveOpen=0.
  4. Click Update, then close the Explorer.
  5. Open the object's settings notebook to the Object subpage of the Extensions page, and set the checkboxes as desired.
